IM Louisville 2013 – Analyzing Results

Race Conditions

The conditions in Louisville were pretty fast this year: I’ve calculated a race adjustment of 6:10 while the new course rating is at 0:19. The bike was pretty typical, but both the swim and the bike were quicker than in the past years.

Male Race Results

Chris McDonald won the race in a new course record. He was close to the lead on the swim, then posted a new bike course record and also the fastest run of the day. Last year’s winner Patrick Evoe and Thomas Gerlach were close together for most of the day, then Patrick pulled away to secure the runner up spot. The same podium as last year, just in a slightly different order.

Female Race Results

On the female side, Kate Bevilaqua had a great race, posting better than expected times in all three legs. She was in the lead (or within just a minute or so) for the whole day, but it seemed she never have a comfortable enough lead to relax for a minute. She didn’t have the best time for any of the legs, but won by more than four minutes.
