Top 10 Ratings

Last updated: End of December 2020.

There hasn’t been a lot of racing in 2020, and there haven’t been any changes for most athletes, especially on the Ironman-distance. Nonetheless there have been a few changes that I’ll highlight in the next sections.

TOP 10 Rated Ironman Distance Athletes

TOP 10 Rated Male Athletes

Cody Beals and Chris Leiferman have entered the Top 10 after their Florida 2020 finishes. Joe Slipper and Braden Currie have also improved their ratings with their New Zealand results and have been able to overtake Javier Gomez who has slipped from 5th to 9th place.

TOP 10 Rated Female Athletes

Teresa Adam has continued her climb in the Rankings, after her win at IM New Zealand she is now in 4th place. Based on their few IM finishes, Laura Philipp and Kat Matthews would also place in the Top 10, but I require at least three finishes in a full distance race for a valid rating. Expect some changes for 2021 when they get a chance to confirm their performance in another race!

TOP 10 Bike-Rated Male Athletes

As Andrew Starykowicz has been given a doping suspension for racing without a TUE at the end of 2019, I have removed him for the Rankings until his next valid result. This has moved Sebastian Kienle into the #1 spot. As in the overall Rankings, Chris Leiferman and Cody Beals have moved into the Top 10.

TOP 10 Rated 70.3 Distance Athletes

There have been a few more 70.3-distance races, most notable the PTO Championships at Challenge Daytona.

TOP 10 Rated Male Athletes

Additions to the Top 10 are Magnus Ditlev and Kyle Smith. Magnus won 70.3 Gdynia and had the fastest bike split in Daytona. Kyle Smith isn’t a household-name (yet), but so far he is unbeaten on the half-distance with wins at 70.3 Taupo, Port of Taurange and in Rotorua, beating well-known athlete such as Braden Currie, Mike Phillips and Terenzo Bozzone. It’ll be interesting to see him race deeper fields .. hopefully in a 2021 race!
