IM Canada 2011 – Predictions (Main Post)

As for all prediction posts, you can find additional information on the participants in the detail post.

Previous Results

IM Canada is one of the oldest IMs – and it will also be one of the bigger fields of the year. Even if it is just a 2000-points race, a lot of athletes trying to make it into the August Kona qualifiers are trying to secure some more points.

With a rating of 2:59, it’s not a fast course. Last year’s winners were Victor Zyemtsev in 8:32 and Meredith Kessler in 9:13.

Male Participants

The highest rated athlete is Jordan Rapp who is back to racing strong after his accident. He has a good shot at winning this race. It might even give him enough points to qualify for Kona, although as far as I know he is not interested in racing there.

There are a lot of athletes on the start list, but with the new WTC Pro license (pay a flat fee to start in any race) it is never clear who is actually foing to race.

Female Participants

Meredith Kessler is back to defend her title, but she faces strong competition in Mary Beth Ellis (two IM starts, two wins) who is trying to get some more points for Kona.
