Ironman Leeds 2025 – Analyzing Results

2024_IM Leeds_logo.Course Conditions

This was the first time for a Pro race on this course. Sam Laidlow won the race posting the best splits in all three legs, therefore all his times are course records. The swim and run were relatively quick, but the bike was quite slow (adjustment of -20:26), comparable to St. George, Lanzarote and Wales. The overall adjustment was -12:06, about four minutes slower than IM UK which was a Pro race up to 2021.

Kona Qualifiers

IM Leeds offered three male Pro slots for Nice. These will be offered to

  • Nathan Guerbeur, Harry Palmer and Kieran Lindars.

In addition, Sam Laidlow validated his AQ slot. You can find the list of all qualifiers here.

Ironman Lake Placid 2025 – Analyzing Results

IMLP Course Conditions

Even though we’ve seen a number of course records, the conditions this year weren’t fast. The swim was typically slow for Lake Placid, then rain made the bike course also pretty slow. Maybe the colder temperatures prevented some overheating but the run also wasn’t quick. All in all, an adjustment of -5:34 was slightly slower than the course rating of -4:05.

2025 saw a whole string of course records. On the men’s side, Trevor Foley broke Matt Marquard’s bike course record from last year (4:10 after 4:16) – for the overall record they switched: Matt broke Trevor’s record (7:50 after 7:55). On the women’s side, there were three new records: Marta Sanchez broke the Heather Jackson’s 2022 bike CR (4:51 after 4:52, Lisa Perterer was just a few seconds slower even after a penalty), Tamara Jewett set a new run CR (2:40 after Danielle Lewis’ 2:52 from last year), finally winner Solveig Loevseth became the first woman to go sub-9 with her 8:43 (breaking Sarah True’s 2022 9:00).

Kona Qualifying

Lake Placid had four slots each for the men (Nice) and women (Kona). These will be offered to

  • Trevor Foley, Jason West, Bradley Weiss and Mattia Ceccarelli,
    and
  • Holly Lawrence, Rebecca Clarke, Katie Colville and Alexandra Watt

Nicole Falcaro and Amber Ferreira declined their slots. You can find all qualifiers here.
