Course Conditions
This year was one of the faster races at IM South Africa, the overall adjustment of 5:14 was two and a half minutes quicker than the long term average, mainly based on a slightly faster bike, possibly caused by conditions that were calmer than usual in Port Elizabeth.
Men’s winner Matt Marquardt set a new overall course record, two minutes quicker than Magnus Ditlev’s winning time from last year. He posted the fastest bike and run and was only slightly slower than the individual course records. For the women, winner Daisy Davies set a new bike course record, almost four minutes quicker than last year’s best split by Anne Reischmann.
Kona Qualifying
Four men’s and women’s Kona Pro slots were on the line. These will be offered to the top four finishers:
- Matthew Marquardt, Joe Skipper, Tristan Olij and Mike Ugarte for the men
and - Daisy Davies, Katrine Graesboell, Daniela Bleymehl and Henrike Gueber for the women.
