Race Conditions
Challenge Penticton was held on the same course that IM Canada was previously held. Compared to those races (adjustment of 4:17), this year was a bit faster with an adjustment of 9:46. Apparently, the swim and bike were a little bit slower, but the run was quite a bit faster than in previous years (7:46 adjustment vs. run rating of 1:12). (I’m not aware of any course changes that might be the cause for this.)
Male Race Results
Jeff Symonds had a great race – he had the fastest swim and bike splits and the second fastest run (at least of those who finished). Still, he was slightly slower than expected after his first IM result (an 8.37 on the slow course in Los Cabos). Chris McCormack started the race, but bailed on the run – not too much of a surprise with the “little race in Kona” race in a few weeks. Scott Defilippis and Jamie Whyte rounded out the podium:
