Course Conditions
Conditions seemed to be favorable for fast times this year, possibly aided by changes in the course especially on the bike. The men’s race set a number of new course records:
- New bike course record by Benjamin Hill (roughly four minutes quicker than Cam Wurf’s 2019 time)
- New run course record by Mike Phillips (by just over a minute compared to Tim Reed’s 2019 run)
- New overall course record by Sam Appleton, first sub-8 and almost nine minutes quicker than Steve McKenna last year
Nice and Kona Qualifiers
IM Australia only had one slot each for the men (Kona) and women (Nice). These will be offered to:
- Radka Kahlefeldt for the women
and - Sam Appleton for the men.
Women’s winner Regan Hollioake was already qualified. You can find the full list of qualifiers in this post.
