Course Conditions
Ironman Wales is one of the toughest Ironman courses on the calendar, and this year’s edition continued that trend: The male winner Matt Trautman went just under 9 hours, and the female winner Lucy Gossage just under 10 hours.
Based on the data the bike conditions were pretty quick (at least for Wales!), this probably contributed to new bike course records set by Matt (his 4:54:47 was almost three minutes faster than the 2015 record set by Markus Thomschke) and Lucy (she improved the old record by Jeanne Collonge from 2016 by just over a minute).
