Last Update: mid-October 2025, after both IM World Championships (comparisons to end of 2024)

The Professional Triathletes Organisation release World Rankings on a weekly basis. These used to be based on my race analysis, creating a strong overlap of their Rankings to my Ratings. Since the start of 2023, the PTO Worlds Rankings are now based on a new points algorithm (details can be found here), putting a stronger emphasis on the prestige or tier of a race and the finishing position and looking at all races longer then Olympic Distance in the last 12 months. The Ratings shown in this post are only based on full-distance races (i.e. not half-distance races such as 70.3 or T100) regardless of where the performance is shown. While the PTO Rankings are based on the last 12 months, my Rankings are based on all races an athlete has raced, with an emphasis on more recent races, but requiring at least three finishes, at least one of them in the last 12 months. Therefore, these Rankings offer a more complete picture focused on full-distance racing.

Comments:

• A lot of athletes that haven’t been ranked at the end of last year have now jumped into the Top 10: Gustav Iden, Casper Stories, Jonas Schomburg and Marten Van Riel now have three Ironman-distance finishes. 
• After his convincing wins at IM Texas and IM Germany and a third place in Nice, Kristian Blummenfelt jumps back to #1 in the Ratings. The top three spots are now taken by the Norwegians.
• Antonio Benito Lopez (#15), Leon Chevalier (now #19) and Bradley Weiss (#28)  have fallen out of the Top 10.
• Gregory Barnaby and Menno Koolhaas haven’t finished an Ironman in the last year and no longer have a valid Rating.

Comments:

• After her wins in Lake Placid and Kona, Solveig Loevseth enters the Rankings at #1.
• Laura Philipp and Kat Matthews are at the next positions in the Rankings. After Kona, Kat has inched slightly ahead of Laura.
• With three completed Ironman races, Lisa has entered the Top 4. After her baby break, Skye Moench is back as #9.
• Anne Haug (was #5) and Daniela Ryf (was #6) have ended their careers. Sarah True (was #9) hasn’t finished an Ironman in the last 12 months.
