Race Conditions
This year were the hardest conditions ever for IM Sweden: A choppy swim and a windy bike ride caused slow times and also took energy from the athletes for the run. An adjustment of 5:28 shows that the race was about 10 minutes slower than the last years.
Male Race Results
Patrik Nilsson had declined his Kona slot in order to focus on winning his home IM. He was in the leading group for the swim and bike, the put out the fastest marathon to win with a comfortable margin and – considering the slow conditions – a pretty fast time. He was followed by Dougal Allen who overcame a slower swim with a fast bike and run. KJ Danielson had the fastest swim and bike but took third.
