Course Conditions
IM Texas 2025 was a fast race, especially on the bike. Compared to the long-term overall course rating of 11:25, this year was quite typical with an adjustment of 11:47. The bike was slightly quicker (adjustment of 19:03, bike course rating of 15:03), the run maybe a bit slower (adjustment -4:02, run course rating of -1:27). Compared to last year, conditions were a faster by about five minutes overall and seven minutes on the bike.
There were a number of new records, but they were only partly helped by the conditions. On the men’s side, Cam Wurf set a new bike course record of 3:53, also the fastest ever bike split in an Ironman-distance race. There was a total of 14 athletes under the 4-hour barrier. Kristian Blummenfelt then set new run and overall course records, passing Patrick Lange’s marks from only one year ago.
For the women, Taylor Knibb set a new bike record, her 4:19 was also the fastest ever bike split. Kat Matthews also set new run and overall course records, breaking her own race from 2023. It’s interesting to note that both winners set new run course records but that Kat and Kristian were the only ones with great run splits; They were about eight (Kat) and seven minutes (Kristian) faster than the second best runs, underlining that these two showed great performances in Texas.
Kona Qualifying
With five slots each, racing was interesting beyond just the podium spots. These slots will be offered to:
- Antonio Lopez, Rudy von Berg, Daniel Baekkegard, Casper Stornes and Paul Schuster for the men (Nice)
and - Kat Matthews, Taylor Knibb, Alice Alberts, Tamara Jewett and Haley Chura for the women (Kona).
Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden validated their AQ slots. Lisa Perterer and Sara Svensk were already qualified before Texas. You can find the full list of qualifiers here.
