  1. Hi Thorsten, thanks for all you do in this area.
    Surprised that you write that the SOF is 70% of a “typical Kona field” given that the general consensus is that “everyone” is there and it may be the strongest women’s field ever. I could imagine a 70% SOF relative to PTO rankings, since middle distance athletes like Ashleigh Gentle, Paula Findlay etc. are not there. But not relative to a “typical Kona field”.

    1. You’re right, this field is amazing and probably the best Ironman-distance racing has to offer at this point.
      Looks like I have to re-visit my metric of “typical Kona field” which is based off the typical number of Kona starts (and wins etc.) – a number that has gone down in recent years, with for the men and the women. Another item for my todo-lis 😉
