Kona Qualifying

There are a few athletes looking for a Kona slot:

  • Cemaron Wurf is already safe, his summer racing plans are pretty flexible for now.
  • Jan van Berkel is already pretty close, to improve his score he needs a 7th or better.
  • Ronnie Schildknecht has four races in his total, so he’ll need a fourth place or better .. but he’s probably more focused in winning his home race for the tenth(!) time.
  • Annabel Luxford has enough points but needs an Ironman finish.
  • Lisa Roberts (also racing IM France) just needs a few more points, a seventh place should be enough for her.
  • Sara Svensk is on a number of entry lists, she’ll need a podium for a slot.

  • Joe Skipper – if he decides to race – is looking for finishing second in order to get a slot.
  • Lucy Gossage is already safe for a slot.
  • Laura Philip is probably on the UK list just as a backup for IM Frankfurt, in case she races in Bolton she should get a slot with a podium finish.
  • Sara Svensk is on a number of startlist, she’ll need a fourth place or better to qualify.
  • Angela Naeth and Nikki Bartlett are probably short of a slot even with a win.

Kona Qualifying

With the July cutoff for Kona Qualifying coming closer, there are a number of athletes looking to secure a slot. Here’s what some of the males need to be safe or get very close to it:

  • 8th: Michael Weiss
  • 6th: Thiago Vinhal
  • 2nd: Miquel Blanchard
  • Win: Markus Thomschke, David Plese
  • Just Finish: David McNamee, Andy Potts
  • Already Safe: Igor Amorelli, Ivan Tutukin

The woman Pros will need more points than the males to qualify, here’s who has a chance for securing a July slot in Austria:

  • 3rd: Emma Pallant
  • 2nd: Lisa Huetthaler
  • Winner: Sara Svensk
  • Already Safe: Susie Cheetham, Mareen Hufe

Even when last year’s winner Eva Wutti defends her title, she will still need another Ironman to get enough points, she might tackle the Austria/Germany double with just one week between the IMs.
