Ironman Lanzarote 2024 – Analyzing Results
Course Conditions
IM Lanzarote is one of the toughest courses on the Ironman calendar. This year, some smaller course changes and favorable weather conditions may have contributed to some faster times, ten to fifteen minutes quicker than in some recent years. Female winner Anne Haug set new course records for the bike (previously Lydia Dant from 2022), run (previously by Kristin Liepold from 2013) and overall (previously Paula Newby-Fraser from 1995 – a mark that held for 29 years!). Matthew Palmer (currently living in Denmark and therefore shown on the tracker as Danish but with British nationality) set a new bike course record, improving Cam Wurf’s time from last year (on a slightly different bike course) by two and a half minutes.
Nice and Kona Qualifying
Lanzarote has two slots each for the men (Kona) and women (Nice). These will be offered to:
- Jeanne Collonge and Lydia Dant for the women
and - Kenneth Vandendriessche and Jordi Montraveta Moya for the men.
In addition, Anne Haug validated her AG slot for Nice. You can find all qualifiers in this post.
