Ironman Austria 2022 – Analyzing Results
Course Conditions
IM Austria is traditionally a fast course, and with the winners going sub-9 and sub-8, this year was no exception (adjustment of 12:08). However, that was slower than the course rating for Austria (now at 17:48), and there were a lot of years with much faster conditions in 2014 and before.
There were a number of new course records. Most notably, female winner Laura Philipp broke Mirinda Carfrae’s 2016 run and overall course records. Laura’s 2:44 marathon was five minutes quicker and overall she improved the record by almost six minutes. On the men’s side, second-place finisher Rasmus Svenningsson improved on the 2015 bike record by Marino Vanhoenacker, and winner Denis Chevrot set a new run course record (breaking Marino’s 2011 marathon record).
Kona Qualifying
There was one male and one female Kona Pro slot available. These go to the winners
- Denis Chevrot
and - Laura Philipp.
You can find the list of all athletes qualified for the October 2022 race in Kona here.
